Regarding the recent fall of a well known pastor, why is there so much silence in the Christian community? It seems that we’re ok covering for a pastor or leader who has been so deceptive, who in one breath preaches the Gospel and the next willfully sins and covers it up. Was he a false teacher all along?

A false teacher is one whose teachings don’t conform to the word of God. I have never heard this said of the person you are referring to, so I wouldn’t classify him as a false teacher.
It’s true that pastors are held to a higher standard than others, so when this pastor failed to meet those standards he relinquished his position. But that has nothing to do with whether his teaching was consistent with the Bible.
