Generational Sin

Q

After years of training and preparation, our daughter was abruptly passed over for a paid position at our church because someone thought she may be suffering from generational sin. My question is do born again Christians continue to suffer from generational sin?

A

Yes, I believe it is possible for believers to suffer from generational sin.  I believe the environmental conditioning process, wherein we learn many behavioral traits from our parents at a very young age, can also cause tendencies toward certain sins to be acquired as well.  But because of the Lord’s death on our behalf, the chain of generational sin can be broken once we’re aware of it.  Remember, being born again means all our sins are forgiven.  It doesn’t mean our tendency toward sin has been taken away.
