Should I Be Giving Them Money?

Q

I am sponsoring a child in South America through a Christian organization that works through local churches. I am struggling with this because the church they are working through does not teach OSAS. So if they believe that they can lose their salvation, are they really depending on the Grace of God and should I be giving this church my money ?

A

If I understand you correctly, you’re sending money to sponsor a child, not to support a church. Whether the church believes in OSAS or not the child needs sponsorship from someone and shouldn’t be deprived over a doctrinal difference between adults.

The Lord blesses those who help the needy in His name, and widows and orphans are among His top priorities.

James 1:27 says, Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
