Is there any way to determine if Damascus will cease to be a city prior to Ezekiel 38 or after Ezekiel 38? I suppose that the possibility of its destruction concurrent with the war of Ezekiel 38 must be considered for a thorough analysis.

I believe the lack of any mention of Syria among the Muslim coalition that comes against Israel indicates that Isaiah 17 will be fulfilled prior to Ezekiel 38. This is lack of mention is especially provocative since Ezekiel 38:6 says the coalition will come from the North, probably through what’s currently Syrian territory.
