Life After The Rapture

Q

You wrote; “According to my understanding, raptured believers will go to Heaven where we will take up residence in the New Jerusalem. There will be no contact with Earth during the time between the Rapture and the 2nd Coming, but during the Millennium visitation to Earth will be possible. Jesus will be prominent both on Earth and in the New Jerusalem during the Millennium.” Would you please explain how you support these statements Scripturally?

A

In John 14:1-3 Jesus explained that He was going to His Father’s house to prepare a place for us and would return to take us there to be with Him forever. During the Tribulation we’ll remain hidden there until God’s wrath has passed by (Isaiah 26:20). In Rev. 21:2 John described this place returning from Heaven at the time of the 2nd Coming. He called it the New Jerusalem and said its gates would never be closed (Rev. 21:25). While nothing impure could ever enter it, nothing is said to indicate we’d be prevented from leaving. Otherwise the gates could just be left closed. Rev. 21:22 also mentions the Lord’s presence in the New Jerusalem, but Zechariah 14:8 says He’ll be King of the whole Earth. This is confirmed several times in Scripture. Finally, we will rule and reign on Earth with the Lord (Rev. 5:10), although our home is in the New Jerusalem.
