Moses Was Speaking For God

Q

I read Deuteronomy 13:6-18, and I wondered whether was Moses speaking as a man or for God. In my mind there’s no room to believe that our all-loving Father is inciting people for such a violence. What do you think?

A

Moses was relaying God’s directions. Some people think there’s a God of the Old Testament and a God of the New Testament and they’re different. But there is one God and he has never changed. The difference between the people in Deut. 13 and us is they had to pay for their own sins whereas Jesus has already paid for ours.

Romans 15:4 says everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. What we’re supposed to learn from Deut. 13:6-18 is how serious God is when He says to worship Him and Him only.
