Q
Some people who try to make a case for a pre-Adamite race point to Genesis 1:28. What does the Hebrew word translated replenish in Gen 1:28 mean?
A
The King James Version of Genesis 1:28 says,
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Almost all other versions say fill the Earth instead of replenish it, which makes more sense since Adam and Eve were the Earth’s only inhabitants. Of the 249 times the Hebrew word appears, it’s translated as some form of fill 185 times and replenish only 7.
