Spirit Now Body Later?

Q

Is it possible that when the rapture occurs only our spirit is taken up leaving our bodies behind temporarily? And we are reunited with them at a later time? And, our earthly lives continue in our natural state controlled by our soul until said reunion? If that were possible it would seem to the unsaved world as if the rapture never happened and contribute to the “strong delusion that they should believe a lie”?

A

In 1 Cor. 15:51-53 Paul said when the dead are resurrected we the living will be changed from mortal to immortal. Since our spirit and soul are already immortal he must have been talking about our body. The purpose of changing our bodies to an immortal state is to permit us to dwell with the Lord, since mortal bodies can’t do that (1 Cor. 15:50).

If He was going to leave our bodies behind, He wouldn’t have to change them. To me this says at the rapture body, soul and spirit will all leave the Earth at the same time.
