The Righteous Perish

Q

I know that God knows when each one of us will die. Do you think that God may take the life of someone to prevent them from having to go thru something terrible? My daughter died when she was 8 years old. She was wonderful and believed in Jesus. Many years later I found out that something terrible had almost happened to her and probably would have again had she lived. I think that God took her to prevent that from happening to her, for I know that she is with Him now. Am I in error in my thinking?

A

I don’t think you’re in error in your thinking. Isaiah 57:1 says,

The righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil.

As a believer, your daughter had a righteousness imputed to her by faith and qualified for this verse.

By the way, the Hebrew word translated “perish” in this verse also means “vanish”, implying the possibility that we who are righteous by faith could someday vanish from Earth to be spared from the coming evil. Another hint of the pre-trib rapture?
