Was Mary Born Without a Sin Nature?

Q

Since original sin was passed by Adam to his sons would that also mean that Eve passed on original sin to the daughters? Was the virgin Mary born without original sin? Is it true that the Virgin Mary is the only human born without original sin, other than Jesus and Adam and Eve prior to sinning?

A

The concept of original sin is not Biblical. Adam and Eve both developed a sin nature after sinning in the garden. And there’s no Biblical support for the claim that Mary was the only woman born without original sin, either. Exodus 20: 5 hints that the sin nature may be passed through the father and not the mother. If so this means Mary had a sin nature just like every other human, but since Jesus didn’t have an earthly father, He didn’t inherit a sin nature.

Here’s how it works. When a woman ovulates, her egg remains separate from her body and is protected by a shield that will allow only a single sperm cell to pass. Mother and child do not share the same blood supply, in fact they can have different blood types. Therefore, God could have chosen any woman who met the requirements to bear the Messiah, as a single divine sperm cell would have provided the all the sin-free biological material needed to produce a sinless man.
