Were Immortal Children Possible?

Q

My question is could Adam and Eve have had children before they sinned and became mortal? What would the ramifications of this be today? Thanks!

A

God gave Adam and Eve the command to be fruitful and multiply, increase in number and fill the Earth in Genesis 1:26, before the fall in Genesis 3. Therefore, the ability to have children must have been there all along.

Since the first children weren’t born until after the fall (Genesis 4:1-2) we have no way of knowing how things might be different today. But since God knows the end from the beginning, He knew Adam and Eve would sin before He created them, so He didn’t need a plan “B”.
