Why Did God Create Us?

Q

If the Lord knew that we would fall from the beginning, why did he create us? Why let us go through all the pain and suffering? I mean, what would the earth have looked like if Adam and Eve never have sinned?

A

This is a question you’ll have to reserve for God Himself to answer. But before you ask Him, I suggest you do some meditating on Romans 9:20. Who are you, O man, to talk back to God? Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’

Although the Bible tells us the purpose of our life, which is to decide whether to accept the Lord’s death as payment for our sins, it doesn’t say why man was created in the first place, except to populate the Earth. In my opinion He really doesn’t need to explain this to us.

If Adam and Eve had never sinned, the Earth would look just like God created it. Perfect. The weather would always be pleasant, there would be just enough people for everyone to always have enough space and enough food. There would be no sickness or death, no suffering or oppression. We would all be happy, healthy, productive, and immortal. It’s hard to imagine how different life would be.
