Why Was Jesus Standing?

I have a question about Acts 7:56 when Stephen was being stoned and heaven opened up and he saw Jesus standing on the right hand of God.

Q. I have a question about Acts 7:56 when Stephen was being stoned and heaven opened up and he saw Jesus standing on the right hand of God. In another teaching I was listening to the teacher implied that it meant something that Jesus was standing and not sitting. I’ve looked this up and gotten a few different explanations. One was that a king always stands when he is making a judgement say in a court situation.

Another because Stephen was the first martyr for the Church and the last prophet for the nation of Israel.

I’ve also thought myself that Jesus is making a judgment; that these Pharisees were sealing their own doom because they knew the truth but refused to believe. I do think it’s significant that Jesus was standing. I really want to know what you think about this please.

A. The real issue here for the Jews was that Stephen testified to seeing Jesus at the right hand of God. This confirmed a statement that Jesus Himself made in Matt. 26:64, causing the High Priest to call for His execution. Whether He was standing or sitting is immaterial. His presence at God’s right hand showed that He had told them the truth, and the Jews were wrong in sentencing Him to death.

As for Stephen being a prophet to Israel, I don’t think so because although he had been a follower of the Jewish religion, Stephen was Greek by nationality (Acts 6:1-5). According to Hebrews 1:1-2, Jesus is the last one to hold the office of Prophet.
