Will God Save All His Children?

Q

Is it possible that God will save ALL of His children? The Bible seems to leave open the subject, because in the end all the tears are wiped from our eyes. What if He only made the souls that would endure?

A

The answer is yes and no. God will save all of His children, but not all humans are God’s children. Let me explain. All little children belong to God and have eternal life. But once we are old enough to be accountable for our sins we lose that status and have to choose to be one of His children by being born again. John 1:12-13 says,

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God– children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

This is what it means to be born again as a child of God. Everyone who meets this requirement will be saved.

If this was not the case and God intends to save everyone, then we wouldn’t have to believe in Jesus to have eternal life, as John 3:16-18 tells us, we wouldn’t have to ask for salvation, as Matt. 7:7-8 tells us, and none of us would perish, as 2 Thes.2:9-12 tells us.
