Jesus … God And Man

Q. It seems to me that Jesus gave up his divinity when He became a man. He was still God and man but in order to pay the price to redeem us he had to do it as a sinless man. I don’t believe he ever used His divine power to do any of the works that He had done, but that He operated only in faith. Otherwise Satan could have said he (God) was operating illegally in the Earth.

Living By Faith

Q. My questions is this: we have some preachers who preach the Word but the people seem to be starving. If the speaker tries to feed them meat they almost seem to cover their mouths (and ears) and back up. Living by faith is just a phrase to most believers and faith is inversely proportional to the material goods we have, as you have stated. Is this a fulfillment of prophecy or just the natural progression followed by Europe before us?

Is This Scriptural?

Q.  Why is it that some people when they pray for your healing ask you afterwards to do something that you couldn’t do before?  For example move your leg, your arm, etc? Is this scriptural?

Storing Food For The Future

Q.  I know the Bible says not to store treasures for yourself here on earth but to store your treasures in heaven. I believe the Bible entirely and try to follow Gods word. However, I do believe God gave us a little thing called common since. With the increase of natural disasters and the threat of terrorism, I have started putting a supply of food and water away. Not because I don’t trust God to take care of me and my family, because he has all this time, but because he has given us warnings as to how evil the world is and will become.  Do you think I am being foolish for storing or do you think it is a wise idea just in case something like a natural disaster were to occur?

His Mercies Are New Every Morning

Q.  Recently I re-dedicated myself to the Lord. I grew so weary and heartbroken from my addiction to a particular sin.  One moment, I decided I had enough and got rid of every enabling piece of my addiction, and prayed and fasted for the Lord to deliver me from this addiction once and for all. Two days later, I found myself repeating the same dreaded sin. My question is, how long will it take for the Lord to deliver me? Will it take very long, or could it just miraculously happen overnight? Is there any way of telling at all?

Does God Function That Way?

Q.  I have a disabled son. He has a variety of problems. It seems new “conditions” keep getting added on. We have prayed for years for healing, but he just gets worse.  A family member told me; “God’s plan for your son is a short life full of pain but He has purpose in that pain”.  Does God function that way?

More Signs And Wonders

Q.  I have been hearing about persons and or ministries saying that the glory cloud of God is manifesting today like it did in Old Testament times and it is evidence of God working in these ministries.  I believe that the Old Testament is shapes and types of everything in the New Testament.  But I do not see this same glory cloud mentioned in the New Testament except maybe at the mount of transfiguration, which does not seem fit with what people are claiming for today.  Help me out and tell me what you think about this.

Regarding Psalm 103

Q.  Re: Psalm 103:1-5:  “Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Does it make sense to believe that God heals all our diseases and restores our youth in this life?  I see no evidence of that.  Could it be that this is a promise for our future in our resurrected bodies?

Effectual Fervent Prayer

Q. Re: James 5:16.  I am wondering how one prays an “effectual fervent” prayer? Does God require a certain level of emotion (fervency) to see prayer answered? How does one motivate oneself to such a level of intensity? Does it apply to certain kinds of prayer or all types?
