This week in Mexico 12-5-20

Today I’m asking for prayers for my friend’s mom, Otelia, who is in the hospital.

Pray with us

Some of you know of Olga, she helps run our outreaches here in Mexico, and their whole family is family to us. This request is for her mom, Otelia.

Olga was on her way to my house for more Christmas outreach planning for the families in need, when she got a call to come to the hospital. Her mom had fallen over the weekend and dislocated her shoulder. She went in for a follow-up yesterday, Friday, December 5th, and they admitted her immediately with dangerously high blood pressure.

She stabilized overnight and the doctors said how she responds today and tomorrow are critical in determining if she’ll come through this. Please pray with us. We’re praying for her blood pressure to stabilize, for whatever is causing it to be healed, her heart to be strengthened, and for wisdom for the doctors in treating her.

THANK YOU

Kids helping with food distribution

When we were first here, we were blessed to be able to see how many different ministries approach giving and food distribution and take pieces from many and improve them! Food insecurity is a real thing in our area, and it affects the kids’ emotional state just as much as the adults. It’s scary to know you don’t have enough food in the house. So we began assembling bags to get a family through a month with non-perishable items in the most economical way possible. There are some families with small kids and single moms who are often in need. But before the pandemic, the families were often changing. This year, it’s been all of them all the time.
For the month of December, we include ingredients to make tamales and posole, which are the traditional items for Christmas dinner. Since each of the kids in our Escualita are in need of food too, they asked if they could help us assemble the grocery bags this month. Our volunteers planned extra time for this. It’s like when little kids want to “help” in the kitchen and it takes at least twice as much time. But we want to honor their desire to help and give back in any way they can. Several of the moms who didn’t have work came to help too!

Our Escualita Classes

Our school classes this week! I don’t know how I only ended up with two pics this week. It’s been busy, and I lost a day with a power outage and an intense migraine that seemed to come with the storm that took out the power. Thank you all for your prayers! Today I’m doing much better!
