Cherubim In Eden. Follow Up

Q

Re: The Cherubim In Eden. I read this question today and thought there should be more to your answer. I thought these angels that were guarding Eden cohabited with the daughters of men, which would make this new race of aliens (don’t know what to call them as they are not human) not redeemable. Thought this led to giants and then the Flood. So many people just don’t understand why God wanted to destroy so many groups in the OT. Because they were not redeemable! How do you see this?

A

The fallen angels who cohabited with human women and produced the hybrid race called Nephilim were from a group that extra biblical sources sometimes refer to as “watchers”. The cherubim who God stationed along the East side of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:24) are of a different class of heavenly beings. According to Ezekiel 28:14 Satan came from this class. They are seen in Isaiah 6 (where they’re called seraphim), Ezekiel 1 and Ezekiel 10, and in Rev. 4, where they are apparently ceremonial guards stationed around the throne of God. Whatever their role, they are not to be confused with the fallen angels of Genesis 6, who fathered the Nephilim.
