Q. We go to a Southern Baptist church and it is a Bible believing church. But they will not preach or have Bible study on Prophecy. They say it is too controversial. We don’t understand, its part of the Bible. Is this part of the ‘falling away’ that we hear about? We are very interested in prophecy and feel like we are missing out on 1/3 of the bible by this stance.

Q. You may have a unique perspective on this due to your missionary work in another country yet you receive questions and comments from all over America. Your willingness to speak the truth and gift of discernment may help also.

Q. I want to thank you for your articles and commentaries. They have been very encouraging and uplifting, as are those of many other expositors. I enjoy yours very much as they most often deal with prophecy and the end times. It is something I have had much interest in since I became a Christian in 1972. Please keep up the good work.
I would like to say that occasionally I find a doctrine that seems to not be in keeping with Scripture. And one of those being the concept that God is waiting to bring in that last slated believer to complete the right number before He takes the church off this earth.

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley
This is an update of an article originally published in March 2004. While it’s based on the Bible, it also includes Jewish wedding traditions from Biblical times. Some of these traditions go all the way back to Abraham’s time and are described in Genesis 24.

Q. You seem to have a bias toward “home churches”, but here in upstate NY that is probably the shortest distance between doctrinal soundness and HERESY!
My questions:
Local churches (in the Scriptures) appear to be autonomous. What kind of church governments are found in the Bible?
How far does pastoral authority extend into the lives of the congregation?
How can pastors and people be accountable to each other?
Tithing appears to be a guideline for N.T. giving. How much responsibility is on the church as far as their (church government) accountability to the congregation?

Q. We have found a Biblically solid church and have been attending for about a year and a half. We left our last church because books by false teachers as well as unbiblical practices were being introduced. In the new church we are attending, God’s word is preached and taught and everything is tested by scripture. The gospel is preached and Jesus is Lord. At the front of our sanctuary are two flags off to the side as a reminder to pray for our nation and Israel where we have missionaries. My question is this: Is it wrong to have flags in the church?

Q. Given the “peak to peak” view of End Times prophecies, why is it that the Church Age is always omitted from the clear statement of prophecy? Also, given the importance of the Church in God’s scheme, why did He fail to tell mankind about it?

Q. Your answers to questions have cleared up many areas of Bible prophecy in which I was confused or just did not understand. You are a blessing to all of us who desire to understand God’s prophetic word. May God continue to bless your ministry!
I recently read on your site, that you believe that many Roman Catholics will be raptured, leaving the church in a state of chaos. Would you please share your belief of this, my heart has been heavily burdened for Roman Catholics, and any encouragement you could provide would be a true ministry to me.

Commentary by Jack Kelley
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” (1Cor. 2:9)
In the time just before the Babylonian captivity, the people of Judah were certain that God would not permit the Babylonians to conquer them. “After all,” they said, “we’re God’s people. His Temple is in our midst. Surely He will spare us.” Their leaders encouraged them to think this way and false prophets assured them that everything would soon be normal again. Even when the Babylonian armies were at the very gates of Jerusalem they were expecting God to miraculously deliver them.

Q. May the Lord bless you in many ways for your web site and knowledge of the Scripture. I have learned so much from your site! We use it for our studies to help us interpret some of the scriptures.
My question is about the churches. What exactly does the church or churches in the Bible really mean? Is it a building, country, or as I hope I am reading right, our prayers and fellowship with Christ? My neighbor who is also a Christian of many years asked me the same question yesterday. We all study the scriptures at home.
