Seven Churches of Rev. 2 and 3: Personal

Published: May 6, 2020 (Originally published: July 2, 2003)
Our final look at the seven letters of Revelation 2-3 takes on a personal note. Once again, we'll look at the letters symbolically to reveal the admonitions the Lord gave to each of us. Remember, the challenges and promises that ended the letters were to individuals, and this can only mean that the criticism found there is to be taken personally, not just corporately.

Published: May 4, 2020 (Originally published: July 2, 2003)
In recent articles, we've focused on the prophetic nature of the seven letters of Revelation 2-3. Now let's shift to another level of application. I've offered the opinion that all the letters are applicable to all congregations throughout the church age and to each member of those congregations. The challenges and promises that end the letters are to individuals, so the criticism found in the letters is meant to be taken personally, not just corporately.

Recently I’ve been asked about witnessing to “unsaved believers” as one writer called them. I usually refer to them as Christians-in-name-only. They call themselves Christians and do some things that make them appear to be Christians. They go to Church, make regular contributions,

I’ve received a number of questions about a recent series of online articles disputing the idea that Jesus died for all our sins, past, present, and future on the cross. The articles make the claim that the Bible teaches no such thing.

The Book of Acts is sometimes called the Acts of the Apostles because it’s a record of their experiences in building the early Church. That being the case, the Book of Jude could be called Acts of the Apostates because it’s devoted to warning the Church of the false teachers who were coming to tear it apart.

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,

The Origin Of Evil

I received a great question this week. A regular visitor wanted to know, is evil a “thing” or the “absence of good”?   The writer went on to say, “I understand how evil entered creation via the fall, but it seems to me that something (evil) that had never existed before suddenly came to be.”
