Q. In 1948 Israel was again given it’s original name. Do you know at what point or what event happened when the land of Israel as we know it ceased to be called “Israel?” I am curious how many years it went without that name.

Q. In regards to Isaiah 17 and the destruction of Damascus, does all of Damascus have to be destroyed? With all the fighting, destruction, and death in Syria right now could that be what was meant by the “destruction of Damascus”? I am wondering if it can be greatly damaged due to this current war or if it as to be totally destroyed to fit the Isaiah 17 prophecy.

Q. In the news recently a woman who was paralyzed went to court and won the “right to die” by having her breathing tube removed. Her parents think that if she does that she is committing suicide and won’t go to heaven. Question is, if she or any one can not live without the help of machines, would it be considered suicide if she had the tubes removed, or would it be considered a natural death?

Q. What is your opinion of Titus 2:5 where women are encouraged to stay busy at home and to be subject to their husbands so they won’t malign the word of God. I ask because many men like me are unable to make enough to support their family, either because they can’t find work or because the work they can find doesn’t pay enough. As a nurse my wife’s income is sufficient to support us while I get enough education to qualify myself for a better paying job. During this time I will also be taking care of our home and child. As soon as I can I intend to become our family’s breadwinner allowing my wife to stay at home with our child. In the mean time are we maligning the word of God by reversing our roles?

Q. I often hear friends and family say that they pray for a certain sports team to win a game. I wonder if God bothers with such trivial matters, when I consider the fact that there are others who would inevitably be praying for the opposing team. Does God intervene in the affairs of mankind for matters like sports?

Q. I know and agree that we are not to judge others, but what are we to do when they do not believe that their actions are sinful, when they have accepted Satan’s lies? Are we not to properly instruct them about God’s commandments? Jesus told us to love our neighbors. Can we just let them go to hell? I think not. I try to teach them the truth without judging their actions. I think the difference is whether you are motivated by anger or by love. If by anger, you are probably judging.

Q. I have a friend who thinks it doesn’t matter who gets elected as President because God has already predetermined it so it won’t make any difference. BTW, this person is a Christian and also a very intelligent and educated person who thinks this is a correct analysis. I personally do not go along with this philosophy but don’t know how to counter it adequately. I know in my heart what I think, but find it hard to put it all into words that make sense. Can you add some reality to this thinking?

Q. Regarding the warning against judging others in Matt. 7:1-2. Paul said we are not to socialize with sinners, so isn’t that judging? Not their eternal destination, but their actions? Thanks so much for your help.
