Can you explain what the context and meaning is of 1 Corinthians 9:19-23? In this day and age so many Christians are being influenced by the culture rather than Christians influencing the culture. They seem to have this need to be “relevant” in this world. Jesus wasn’t “relevant”. Are these verses addressing evangelizing?

Yes 1 Cor. 9:19-23 is addressing evangelism. Paul was stressing the importance of finding common ground with a person before attempting to share the Gospel. It will “break the ice” and give you greater credibility in the eyes of the person you’re speaking with.
