Calling Jesus Father

Q

I know that Jesus is not God the Father and that God the Father cannot be God the Son. But can Jesus be called Father?

A

As I explained in  another article, the Bible makes a strong case that Jesus is God in human form. For example, in John 10:30 Jesus said He and the Father are one, and in John 14:9 He said anyone who has seen Him has seen the Father.

Isaiah 9:6, which is perhaps the most famous prophecy of the Lord’s birth, tells us the Son would be known by several names. Among them are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Therefore Jesus can be called Father, although most people don’t do this. The important thing to remember is whether you’re addressing Father, Son, or Holy Spirit you’re talking to all three because while they are three they are also one.
