What do they mean when they say you can have peace with God? Can we really have peace with God?
In Colossians 1:19-20 Paul said that God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Jesus, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on Earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood shed on the cross.
This means God is at peace with all those who have accepted the death of Jesus as payment in full for all their sins.
And in Phil 4:6-7 he said, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding. will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
And Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27)
The Lord’s peace is not conditional upon outside circumstances like peace in the world is. His peace is unconditional and is irrespective of circumstance.
Believers have the benefit of living in peace with God and enjoying the peace of God in our lives at the same time.
