Can We Die Before our Time?

Q

First I have to say I love your ministry it has really helped me a lot these last few years. I was wondering if you could answer a question me and some others are wondering about. My question is this: Is it even possible for you to die before God’s plan for your life has been completed?

A

Psalm 139:16 says all the days ordained for us were written in God’s book before one of them came to be. That doesn’t mean God decided how long we would live, it means that because He knows the end from the beginning, He knew how long we will live before we were born.

I’m not sure I can agree about the need to fulfill God’s entire plan for us before we die. I know it’s His desire for us, but we have free will and can accept or reject part or all of it. I think there are many believers who hardly fulfill any of God’s plan for them, because they’re to busy trying to make their own plans come to pass.

But I am convinced that God saw us make the choice to be His before we came to be, and reserved a place for us in His kingdom at that time (Romans 8:29-30). Therefore, I don’t believe we could have died before becoming a believer. Otherwise the choice He saw us make could not have been made and He would not have known the end from the beginning as He claims to.

In Isaiah 46:9-10 He said,” I am God and there is no other, I am God and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.”
