Q
My question is, can children partake of communion? Do you have scripture that backs an answer to this question?
A
It depends on their maturity more than their age. Only believers are entitled to take communion because it’s a memorial of what the Lord has done for us. As soon as a child is mature enough to understand all that and declares him or her self for the Lord, participation in the memorial is permitted and should be encouraged.
As far as I know there’s no Scripture dealing with this subject specifically as it relates to children. The issue concerning communion is whether or not one is a believer, not how old one is.
