Q. My question is, can children partake of communion? Do you have scripture that backs an answer to this question?
A. It depends on their maturity more than their age. Only believers are entitled to take communion because it’s a memorial of what the Lord has done for us. As soon as a child is mature enough to understand all that and declares him or her self for the Lord, participation in the memorial is permitted and should be encouraged.
As far as I know there’s no Scripture dealing with this subject specifically as it relates to children. The issue concerning communion is whether or not one is a believer, not how old one is.
