My wife watches (a well known psychic) on a daytime talk show. I don’t know if you are familiar with her but she is supposed to talk or in some manner make contact with the dead.
I was raised to believe this is wrong but the only scripture I know of that deals with this is the one about Sodom and Gomorrah. She has questions about this verse due to the wording and possible difference in meanings. Can you give me other verses in the Bible that would maybe be clearer on this subject or clarify the wording?

Communications with spirits of the dead was a crime punishable by death in Israel because it involves trafficking with demons. As the passage below indicates, God was so opposed to this practice that He listed it as one of the offenses for which He required the total annihilation of the Canaanites.
When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.
Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God. (Deut. 18:9-13)
