Q. If Adam had refused the forbidden fruit could he have become the complete model of the messiah by acting as Eve’s redeemer?
A. For Adam to fulfill the Messianic pattern and become Eve’s redeemer would have required his life. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness (Hebrews 9:22). This would have saved Eve but left her alone. Had Adam been resurrected they could not have had children (Matt. 22:30). Either way there would have been no human race, defeating God’s purpose.
