Q
Can you help me with understanding this verse or the larger context? A friend of mine claims that some bible versions endorsed cannibalism.
Lev 26:29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.
A
This passage is given in the context of the judgments that would befall Israel for disobedience. It meant that enemies would surround them and try to starve them out. Things would get so bad that they’d be forced to eat the dead bodies of their own children in order to survive. Far from being an endorsement of cannibalism, it’s a prophecy of extreme suffering brought on by their disobedience.
