Does Jesus Have Less Power Now?

Q

My question comes from a statement you made on one of your mp3’s. You stated that Jesus gave up some of his inheritance so we could share in it. By doing this is He forever in a weakened state because He is still in the form of a man? Does that mean He doesn’t have some of the abilities as God that He once had?

A

Remember I said He gave up some of His inheritance, not some of His power. He was already Heir of all things (Hebr. 1:2). By accepting us as His brothers, He was agreeing to share that inheritance with us (Romans 8:17). It has nothing to do with His power.

Being in the form of a resurrected man doesn’t weaken Him either. After His resurrection He said, “All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to me” (Matt. 28:18). The Greek word translated authority also means power.
