I recently heard two Christians say, “Who cares when the Rapture occurs? We should be busy tearing down the devil’s strongholds.” Something about this really bothered me. Isn’t there a crown for those watching and waiting for Jesus to return? And doesn’t the devil have his day with the AC until Jesus Himself returns to tear it down?
Yes 2 Tim. 4:8 says there is a crown waiting for those who long for the Lord’s appearing. And besides, tearing down the devil’s strongholds is something we do within ourselves (2 Cor. 10:3-5). It’s not changing the world around us.
These people sound like dominionists to me. It’s a false teaching about the end times that says the church will rise up and take dominion over the world to prepare it for the Lord’s return. They call it bringing heaven to earth. I heard one dominionist teacher say the church will make the world so great no one would want to escape (in the rapture).
As you can see, this is pretty much the opposite to what the Bible says about the end times.
