Explaining 1 Cor 2:9

Q

I know that this verse refers to things after this life on earth is over, but could it have a double meaning? Paul says that the mysteries and the hidden wisdom of God are revealed to us by His Spirit. So could the “the things which God has prepared for those who love Him,” also be things that are being revealed to us as we walk with Him, such as ministry and such?

A

Here’s 1 Cor. 2:9.

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him”

I suppose there’s a sense in which they could in some small way, but remember Paul said that none of the rulers of this world (Satan, etc.) understood what the Lord had in mind, and if they had they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory (1 Cor. 2:7-8).

I doubt if the Lord’s plans for our life here would have been sufficient for Satan to call off the crucifixion.  I think it had to be something much bigger than that, like the door of salvation and eternal life being opened to everyone in the world who would accept it.
