Q. Due to the magnitude of debts, economists are claiming Taxmageddon is coming to America, and implosion is coming to the euro zone. If economic meltdowns of epic proportions do take place, will the Church be here to feel the financial pains?
A. The most serious effects of an economic collapse are mentioned beginning in Rev. 6:5-6 when it will require everything average people can earn in a day just to feed themselves for that day. The Church will be gone by then.
Things like this usually don’t happen overnight, but require an escalation period. A growing number of experts believe we may be somewhere in that escalation period now. Millions of people around the world are already feeling the early effects of it. So while we won’t experience the magnitude of suffering described in Rev. 6, it would be naive to think the Church will escape all of it.
