The Bible offers nations and individuals an opportunity to return to God, if they will. Has any gentile nation in history ever returned to God after walking with Him and then rejecting Him as a matter of national policy?

Yes. The Book of Jonah tells how Nineveh returned to God after being warned by Jonah of a coming judgment. However, it was only temporary since the Book of Nahum describes Nineveh’s ultimate destruction which took place little over 100 years later.
