How Do We Know We’re Right?

Q

During a conversation with friends, the “why do you believe” question came up. Since I’m a fairly new believer, it was a difficult question to answer. Their comments were there are many faiths, and who am I to say Christ is the only way. I told them that’s directly from the word of God. Then they wondered how I know it really is the word of God. Can you help me do better with questions like this in the future?

A

The answer is simpler than you might expect and can be given in one word: prophecy. Of all the so-called holy writings, only one validates itself, proving that it’s authentic. And that’s the Bible. God has an unbroken string of prophecies that have been given in advance and then fulfilled just as they were given that stretches over 6000 years. No other book can make that claim. Anyone who will put aside their preconceived notions and undertake an unbiased study of Old Testament prophecy can prove God’s existence beyond a shadow of a doubt. As God had Isaiah write,

“I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.” (Isaiah 46:9-10) No other so-called deity can do that.
