Q. I have a question I hope you can help me with. In I Corinthians chapter 11 verse 14 it says, “Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?”
What is long hair? How long does it have to be to be long? How long was hair in Jesus day?
A. In Biblical times Jewish men typically wore their hair about shoulder length and let their beards grow, while Greek and Roman men had theirs cut shorter and were clean shaved, similar to most men today. I think Paul was saying that it’s a shame for a man to have his hair make him look like a woman.
