First of all let me say THANK YOU so much for answering my e-mail question’s.
My question this time is did God give some kind of rule’s on number of wives?
When the Hebrews said they wanted a king God warned them of some of the things that could go wrong with a king, and one of them I think was don’t marry bunch of women.
I’m not sure if this is true or not I read so many different articles and stuff that I think I came across this some where but cannot remember where I also looked in the Old Testament but cannot find it.
thank you again.
God’s warning about the dangers of appointing a human King is found in 1 Samuel 8. You’ll find the admonition against the king acquiring horses, multiple wives and large amounts of money in Deut. 17:14-20. (Solomon violated all these restrictions.) From the beginning, the Bible has taught the one man, one woman, one life concept although it was often ignored in ancient times. Notice that Genesis 2:24 says that a man shall leave his parents and be united with his wife (singular) and they shall become one.
