How Were Old Testament Believers Saved?

Q

Since we are saved and won’t be judged because we believe in Jesus Christ as our savior then how will the people living before Jesus be handled, since they never had the chance to believe or not?

A

In several places the Old Testament writers spoke of a coming Messiah who would die for the sins of the people. And over 300 Old Testament prophecies, some of them dating back to the Garden of Eden, foretold of His birth, death and Resurrection. Isaiah 53 is perhaps the best example.

They might not have known His name, but as along as they believed that He was coming to save them, then they were saved. Hebrews 10:12 tells us that he was sacrificed once for all time, meaning that his death covered the sins of those who believe in Him from the beginning of time till the end.
