In The Twinkling Of An Eye

Q

I enjoy your site very much. I was just reading about vanishing in the rapture without our clothes. Do we get new bodies then also? If so, could our souls vanish, leaving our bodies behind? That would be an interesting phenomenon to explain. Thank you.

A

At the rapture, the bodies of the living will be transformed, not discarded. Paul wrote that in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, we will be changed and our mortal bodies will become immortal (1 Cor. 15:51-53).

After we’ve gone I don’t think there will be any trace of us left that would help explain our disappearance. The idea that we’ll leave clothes, false teeth, artificial limbs or joints and other things of that nature behind is simply speculation, and is not necessarily true.

I think vanishing without a trace is an even more interesting phenomenon to explain. I assume the anti-Christ will know the truth about what happened to us, but he won’t be able to reveal it with out admitting that he’s not who he claims to be.

Rev. 13:6 says he’ll blaspheme God, slander His name and His dwelling place, and those who live in Heaven. Normally, people don’t slander angels so I think that last part refers to him slandering us in an effort to explain why we’re missing.
