Q. As I was reading one of your responses, I noticed you referenced the Jewish historian Josephus. My former pastor claims that Josephus was an unreliable source, and was a self-serving ally of Rome. Have you come across such allegations?
A. There are some people who share your pastor’s opinion. But it’s my understanding that the majority of scholars see Josephus as a reliable source of historical information.
Keep in mind that the writings of Josephus are not inspired. Therefore they are subject to human fallibility, and do not carry the weight of Scripture.
