Isaac Newton’s Prophecy

Q

Could you please comment on the article that’s been making the rounds about Isaac Newtons prophecy of Sept. 23, 2015?

A

Daniel 9:24-27 says the 70 weeks (490 years) Israel was being given would be divided into three segments of 7 weeks, 62 weeks, and 1 week, in that order.  The 7 weeks and the 62 weeks had been fulfilled when Jesus was rejected, putting a stop to the prophecy 1 week short of the promised 490.  According to Daniel 9:27, this final week is the only one yet to be fulfilled.

Some are interpreting Newton’s writings as taking the first segment out of order and placing it’s fulfillment to run from June of 1967 until Sept. 23, 2015.  In my opinion there’s no Biblical justification for doing this.  There is also no solid information on what will happen on Sept. 23 or when the 70th Week will be fulfilled, since Newton is on record as saying he believed the 2nd Coming would take place about 2060.

I believe some people are grasping at whatever straws they can find to justify making this September into a watershed time in Bible prophecy.
