John 6:40 And The Rapture

Q

I’m pretty sure there’s a pre-trib Rapture but I get a little shaky when I hear about those being raised up on the last day could you clarify that reference for me? Thanks.

A

If you’re referring to John 6:40, remember that according to Daniel 12:1-2 believing Jews who died before the cross will be resurrected at the time of the 2nd Coming. This is also when those who come to faith after the church is gone will be resurrected (Rev. 20:4) so it’s likely that most believers from the 6000 year age of man will be resurrected then.

Remember, the doctrine of the rapture/resurrection is a special event that pertains only to the Church and was not introduced on Earth until 20 years after the cross. We know this because of 1 Cor. 15:51 where Paul said he was telling us a mystery. That means he was revealing a secret. Jesus never spoke of it directly and if you didn’t already know about the rapture, you would not be able to see any reference to it from His teaching. Therefore you can’t use John 6:40 or any other verse from the 4 gospels to argue against the pre-trib rapture of the Church.
