Messiah Forever!

Q

In the many Messianic prophecies in the OT, is it ever stated, definitively, that Messiah is a Divine Person; the Son; God Himself; or anything of that nature?

OT prophecy describes Messiah’s Kingdom as eternal, but is Messiah Himself ever described as immortal, eternal, etc.?

A

There are several. Isaiah 9:6 is a good one, especially the last sentence. “He will reign David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it in justice and in righteousness from that time on and forever.”

Perhaps the clearest one is in Micah 5:2 where the Messiah is described as being one whose origins are from of old (literally from everlasting). The thought being expressed here is that He existed before time began and would endure after time ends. The Hebrew word is also translated perpetual, forever, and unending.
