I read your wonderful article on forgiveness. My questions is: do I need to go to the person and actually tell them I forgive them when they don’t see that they have sinned against me wrongfully? I have confessed to The Lord for being angry at this person. I have forgiven the person in my heart. But do I need to speak directly to this person?
Forgiveness is a matter of the heart (Matt. 18:35). If you have asked the Lord to forgive you for your anger, and to forgive the other person for hurting you, and have forgiven the other person from your heart, then you have done what’s necessary. Remember, the other person’s response to your forgiveness is irrelevant. That’s between him or her and the Lord. All you’re responsible for is your own behavior.
