Re: What Does It Take? If a person does not believe Jesus is God, are they not believing in another Jesus? Jesus said He was God. One of Satan’s constant attacks has been that Jesus IS NOT God. Does this not prove that belief in the deity of Christ is necessary for salvation, as Satan is always trying to lead people to ‘another gospel’ and ,therefore, down the wrong path to salvation?
I think a believer must accept the deity of Jesus to be saved. Setting aside the claims of John (John 1:1), Paul (Col. 1:15-16), Jesus (John 10:30, John 14:9) and even God (Hebr. 1:8) to that effect, the Bible makes it very clear no one else could have met the requirements to be our redeemer. What I said in my answer is I don’t believe that’s a necessary precondition for salvation. I think it’s one of the first things the Holy Spirit teaches us afterward.
