I have a question about tithing. My husband and I are scraping by with our bills and rent and I have nothing left to give to the church except being at church and joining in the worship. Will God still bless us even if we have nothing to give to Him?
There’s no such thing as having nothing to give. You may be embarrassed at how little you can give, but even if it’s only a few pennies everyone has something. The problem might be that you’re trying to express your gratitude to God with what’s left over after you’ve met all your other needs instead of putting Him first.
Remember, it’s not how much we give, but the attitude of our heart when we give that counts. When thanking Him for saving your life becomes a priority, you’ll find a way to do so. Read the story of the widow’s mite (Mark 12:41-44) and see if it helps change your perspective. Though she gave very little, the Lord commended her for her generosity.
