Q
Where did the black race come from? Is there anything in the Bible making reference to this?
A
The black race is descended from Cush, a son of Ham and a grandson of Noah (Genesis 10:1, 6). After the languages were confused and the people were dispersed at the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9), the descendants of Cush moved into Africa and grew into the black African nations.
Ham is from a Hebrew word meaning hot as in “freshly baked”. We might say he had a dark tan from the Sun. Cush means “black” in Hebrew and is sometimes used in referring to the ancient Ethiopians.
