OSAS & Rewriting the Book of Revelation

Q

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I, like you, believe that we are saved as said in the Bible, by grace through faith and not of ourselves. I don’t think we can earn salvation at all but it is freely given, and it is not ours to give away or lose. In reading Revelation 22 I found the verses above that I need clarification on. Is this a sin that would remove someone who is in the Lamb’s book of Life?
Thank you for your Scriptural integrity, may the Lord continue to bless you with wisdom and discernment.

A

First of all, I believe this was intended for someone who was trying to rewrite parts of the book in order to change its meaning. Being guided by the Holy Spirit, no true born again believer would do this.

Through the years many people have tried to reinterpret its meaning, but to my knowledge that’s not enough to cause God to revoke a person’s place in the book of life.

By the way, John was referring to the book of life in which every human is recorded and from which people can be removed. The Lamb’s book of life, which you mentioned, is a separate book in which only the Church is named and from which no one can ever be removed.
