Putting All Our Eggs In One Basket

Q

I was wondering if there is anything in the Bible about diversifying one’s investments (Like not putting all your eggs in one basket). Seems to me I read something like that but can’t find anything. Can you help?

A

The Lord never cautioned us against putting all our eggs in one basket. In fact He told us the opposite. He said we shouldn’t store up any treasure on Earth but should send it all to Heaven (Matt. 6:19-21). We do this by investing all of our excess in His work here. This does not include bricks and mortar, or other monuments to man, He told us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the poor and spread the gospel. We’re to be especially sensitive to the needs of widows and orphans. If we do that, He promised to meet our needs here (Matt. 6:31-33).
