Q. You have stated, “No one believes the rapture is after the second coming of Christ.” I have noticed before on different topics that you sometimes put everyone into the same box. Many post tribbers believe the rapture is after the second coming at the resurrection.
A. The latest time for the rapture that I’ve seen put forth from the post-trib camp is concurrent with the 2nd coming. It uses Matt. 24:30-31 and Mark 13:26-27 to claim that as the Lord is coming to Earth after the end of the Great Tribulation, He will send His angels to gather the elect.
They equate the trumpet call in Matt. 24:31 with the last trump in 1 Cor. 15:51-53 and say that 1 Thes. 4:16-17 describes the Lord calling believers up to meet Him in the air for the purpose of joining Him for the final phase of His return to Earth.
I am not aware of any “legitimate” post-trib rapture position that supports the calling up of believers after the Lord has actually returned to Earth. What would be the point of Him sending believers up into the clouds to meet Him in the air if He’s already on Earth?
